Erika Dacayo was born and raised in San Diego, CA and began her dance training in hula, tap, jazz, ballet, modern, lyrical, and hip hop at the very young age of 5. In 2002, she continued her training at Mystic Stepper School of Dance under her inspirational and long time mentors Theresa M. Bendorf and Francine Maigue. Erika never knew she had any long term goals with dance until she discovered her passion during high school. Performing for her community throughout several events and gaining many other opportunities to share her talents, it allowed her to become more passionate and hungry for dance. Under the direction of her other mentor Phillip Geniza, her favorite style of dance -- Hip Hop -- has taken her to new and various levels of dance. From 2008 to 2010, she became a member of the professional hip hop companies Hi-Fidelity and Mass Appeal. In the summer of 2010, she became a member of Tessandra Chavez's professional company Unity Dance Ensemble SD, and has been honored to be able to work with a true artist and such passionate dancers. From 2011 to 2014, Erika joined one of San Diego's professional hip hip exhibition teams, Urban FX. She has always been hungry to grow and learn, both as a student and a teacher. In 2014, Erika earned her Bachelors degree in Recreation and Tourism Management. She is currently happily employed at SeaWorld San Diego as a performer/entertainer. In her spare time, she loves to teach master classes and workshops at San Diego's prestigious dance studios such as Culture Shock Dance Center, Studio FX Dance & Performing Arts, and The Movement Dance Center.
